About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Regional Leadership Team and lead our Victorian practice as State Manager.

Your remit will span four key areas:

Leadership, Business Development, Contract Management, and Consultancy Service Delivery.

In this pivotal senior leadership role, you will direct all commercial activities, demonstrate collaborative performance, be involved in engagement delivery using your substantive background expertise, contribute to the Australian Leadership Team on strategy, governance and business growth initiatives, and provide inspirational leadership to your team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Driving strategic growth and expanding our client base by owning client accounts and building a sales pipeline;
  • Business development activities including spearheading the winning of new business;
  • Involvement in and overseeing the successful delivery of consultancy contracts and client engagements;
  • Leading and growing a high-performing team of professional consultants;
  • Acting as Project Director across Victorian assignments; and
  • Partnering with the Regional Managing Director and Business Sector Directors to ensure projects are delivered profitably and to a high standard.

About You

You are an experienced leader in the rail industry, with strong commercial acumen and a strategic mindset. You have a substantive subject matter expertise in an area of the industry that matches our offerings, and you bring a client-focused approach to business development and a commitment to delivering excellence in client engagement, supporting the growth ambitions of the business.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Significant experience in one or more railway disciplines: strategic planning, business case development, scheme development, capital project delivery, operations, asset management, or maintenance;
  • Extensive knowledge of the Victorian rail market with senior leader connections;
  • Extensive project management experience, including resource allocation, prioritisation, and oversight of deliverables;
  • Consulting business development experience in the Australian rail sector;
  • A commercial mindset with expertise in contract and business management;
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and time management skills;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to build long-lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and
  • Demonstrated people leadership capability, including leading multidisciplinary teams, fostering a high-performance culture, mentoring emerging talent, and driving team engagement and development.
