The opportunity with NRC

Building on our continued success, we are looking for an experienced consulting leader to join our team as Associate Vice President, Washington DC.

We have already delivered several key advisory and infrastructure projects on the East Coast and have consistently demonstrated exceptional value to our clients through deep integration with their teams, showing ourselves to be a true partner and peer.

This role will see you lead a team delivering consulting services in a multifaceted advisory environment, helping to build our presence on the East Coast and further enhancing our reputation with agencies and A&E firms as a preferred partner.

You will be leading a diverse consultancy team to deliver projects on time, on budget and to high standards, while also using your skills and knowledge of the US rail and transit sector to maintain client relationships and secure new business.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned rail consulting professional to join a rapidly growing team, reporting directly to the Regional Director, US.

Key Accountabilities

You will oversee the Washington DC team for all consulting engagements including technical content, budgets, deliverables, and client relationships within the geography. In addition, you will also lead overall consulting activity to achieve the required NRC financial targets and success factors including the generation of opportunities for repeat business with existing clients and enhance Network Rail’s reputation as a global leader in rail.

Specific accountabilities include:

  • Working to ensure that NRC’s business remains focused, of high quality, and profitable, achieving the desired market positioning, and receiving the highest satisfaction levels from clients, especially based on performance and client relationships.
  • Providing guidance, mentoring, and direction to technical team and project managers.
  • Support and contribute to marketing outreach, the generation of market intelligence, the identification of bid opportunities, and help position NRC in the phases leading up to RFP.
  • Assemble teams to resource projects at the pre-proposal stage including identifying existing members of the NRC US team as well recruiting locally-based staff in accordance with agreed business plan targets.
  • Support accurate and detailed sales forecasting and budgeting for the United States to aid NRC budgeting, cashflow projections, etc. using NRC’s Salesforce and BST applications.
  • Periodically, stand in for Regional Director, US, at presentations, and panel talks.
  • Conduct business in line with governance and policies established for NRC, driving forwards key diversity and equity.

All activities of NRC and our team members are required to meet the highest ethical and governance requirements.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Relevant degree.
  • Consultancy and business development experience in US Rail & Transit sector with technical and operating requirements.
  • Strong commercial focus with regard to business development and contract management within a FAR-based business environment.
  • Proven project management experience for consulting, contract and technical work including leading all aspects of deliverable products.
  • Excellent people management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative and productive manner.

Desirable

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • Existing relationships with clients and partners in the Washington DC geography
  • Membership in a relevant professional body
