Your new role:

Lead the project planning and risk management support across a projects/programs and client assignments – likely to include (but not limited to): Infrastructure projects/programs and change or Improvement projects/programs. The main function is to play an active role in carrying out project planning and risk management tasks across projects and programs (both internal and client assignments). In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed below, the job holder is required to be flexible and perform other duties assigned by his/her line manager from time to time.

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Develop and manage the Integrated Project program and provide timely and accurate schedule updating and reporting
  • Program reporting into Project Executive and Boards
  • Liaising with staff from each of the teams/functions to gather updates on key project activities
  • Lead scheduling meetings and workshops
  • Critical Path Management
  • Develop and manage risk management framework, procedures, templates and tools
  • Timely and accurate recording of new, revised or closed project risks
  • Oversee the administration of the risk management tool such as CURA
  • Liaising with staff from each of the teams/functions to gather updates on key project risks
  • Lead risk management meetings and workshops
  • Provide support to personnel on risk and issue management
  • Effectively supporting the management and delivery of client assignments – making yourself flexible and outcome focussed, with a willingness to complete varied planning and risk management tasks as required
  • Building strong client relationships across client assignments
  • Delivering business outcomes collaboratively with employees in NRC, the wider Network Rail Group and NRC’s partners
  • Undertaking all activities in a safe environment and in accordance with NRC operating procedures

What you will bring to the Role:



 3+ years project management experience within infrastructure, construction or transport sectors

  • Proficiency in a project schedule management tool – such as Primavera P6 or MS Project
  • Knowledge of the project lifecycle and project management concepts
  • Knowledge of risk management concepts and tools
  • Have experience working with multidiscipline teams to deliver key tasks
  • Have high attention to detail and organisation skills
  • Experience of working in a Consultancy / Client-facing environment
  • Be professional in verbal communication and have experience dealing with clients and stakeholders directly
  • Attention to detail when listening to team members & stakeholders
  • Ability to follow standards/procedures and ensure your activities are conducted in compliance with relevant administrative, financial and corporate governance requirements
  • Strong IT proficiency – including MS Office applications

  • Formal risk and/or project management qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (in a relevant field)
