The Opportunity with NRC

We are looking for an Associate Director Station Operations to join our team in New York.

You will act as lead Station Operations subject matter expert for NRC on major station upgrades or transformation projects. Provide guidance on station design and maximizing provision of station operations during station rebuild programs. Provide practical, experience-based support for new and/or modified methods of working. Embed the new ways of working to make improvements sustainable and support our client to meet their business targets.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure the station design fully supports effective facility maintenance and longterm asset performance by working with stakeholders to define operational, maintenance, and lifecycle requirements early in the design process.
  • Identify risks associated with the handback of assets to station maintainers, whether incremental during staged openings or at final turnover, and ensures these risks are surfaced early, owned, and mitigated.
  • Actively manage the multiple stakeholder groups involved in maintenance (tenant operators, facilities teams, third party contractors) and gain alignment on who maintains what, under what standard, and from which point in the program to avoid gaps, unbudgeted obligations, or operational conflicts.
  • Review how building systems, equipment locations, access routes, and backofhouse layouts enable efficient inspections, servicing, and repairs, and challenges the design to minimize wholelife cost and avoid future maintenance constraints.
  • Draw on experience from similar facilities to identify potential maintainability issues and eliminate risks.
  • Establish the asset information needs, maintenance strategies, and technical access requirements that must be incorporated into the design so that facilities teams can safely and efficiently operate and maintain the station through construction and into service.

Job Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Member of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level.
  • Relevant experience in the successful management of significant projects in the construction and/or rail industries.
  • Experience of station operations and rebuilding.
  • Experience of Project Management, Stakeholder Management, and Change Management.
  • Strong communication skills, commercial focus and financially astute.
  • General knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations.
  • Project Management of Station openings
  • Awareness of US rail structure.
  • Ability to work across a multidisciplinary team and establish relationships at all levels.

For the right person, this role presents a fantastic opportunity to develop their career, joining an established and passionate team with ambitious plans to grow.

We offer benefits such as:

  • Competitive compensation packages
  • Healthcare insurance premiums (100% paid for by us)
  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • 401K with employer matching contributions
  • Flexible working opportunities

NRC supports flexible working practices, and we understand that life balance is an important part of our employees' lives. We offer a wide range of flexible work/life balance options such as hybrid (home/office) working, flexible working hours where appropriate.
