About the role

In this role, you will work within a small team of highly experienced rail professionals reporting into the Regional Managing Director.

You will support the Rail Operations offering with our clients and be required to deliver customer-focused solutions across a diverse project-based rail business.

In partnership with the Regional Managing Director you will participate in sales calls as the subject matter expert in Asset Management and Maintenance.

The successful candidate will have significant Railway Operations knowledge and demonstrated experience leading complex rail projects. This role will be based full time in Toronto.

You can expect to be doing the following types of activities: 

1. Acting as the technical lead and work alongside operations and maintenance professionals on engagements/projects including accountability for relevant aspects of project delivery and meeting client expectations.

2. Actively involved in the preparation of bids taking responsibility for scoping, pricing and all technical aspects of bids.

3. Providing advisory services from a Network Operator perspective to support operational oversight including the delivery of Operational Readiness aspects ensuring the railways operate efficiently and maximise performance capability and customer experience and capacity.

4. Providing advisory services in the development of Operational Maintenance Strategies, tools, and techniques.

5. Contributing to investment options analysis with regards to timetable options, validating system design requirements, and network planning.

6. Developing Concept of Operational (ConOps) Plans; Network Plans, Station management KPI regimes, train crewing, time-table reviews, operating manuals, etc. as part of our Consulting offerings.

7. Cultivating positive relationships with our UK based Operational specialists’ team.

About you

- Significant experience in rail operations and engineering across multiple areas – including implementing important change in one or more impacted areas (Maintenance, Train Operations, service planning Operational Readiness, Train crewing, Stations/Customer Services).

- Railway( Heavy Rail, Subway, Street Car, LRT) experience – including knowledge of interface between train and infrastructure.

- Experience of working within Rapid Transit, Subway, Passenger Rail and/or Freight Train Operating Companies.

- Experience in managing Operations processes across a program lifecycle.
Identify and manage operational risks ensuring the project meets the key operational performance outcomes.

- Ability to follow standards/procedures and ensure your activities are conducted in compliance with relevant administrative, financial, and corporate governance requirements.

- Ability to follow internal reporting standards/conventions to support a client's financial, risk, safety, and audit objectives.

- Proficient in building positive relationships with senior stakeholders and technical subject matter experts.

- Strong IT proficiency – including MS Office applications and developed report writing skills.

- Understanding of working to delivery budgets.
