 The Role

Network Rail Consulting (NRC) are looking for Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths undergraduates or postgraduates.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate or postgraduate to work in rail consultancy based in our Sydney, Australia. The opportunity will be available initially until December 2019 with scope to extend beyond that date.

The successful applicant will be working under the supervision of the NRC’s Digital Systems Integration team who are working directly for Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) on the Digital Systems programme.  Digital Systems is a phase of the More Trains, More Services (MTMS) programme, which will transform Sydney’s rail network using world class technology to create high capacity turn up and go services to meet growing demand. The Digital Systems programme will replace legacy signalling and train controls with modern internationally proven, intelligent systems based around European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 technology. 

Experience will be gained in a number of areas including Technical Integration of signalling technology, Systems Engineering, Human Factors, as well gaining an understanding of Operational Integration and Stakeholder Management.

The Successful Applicant

We will support successful candidates by way of assistance with HECS fees, a potential grant and a one year training contract, post university.

About You

Suitable applicants will have/be:

Currently studying or completed a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths;

  • Interested in an engineering / consultancy career;
  • Good academic standing;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Strong work ethic and ability to think critically;
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of the wider team.
