Network Rail Consulting (NRC) is the international consultancy arm of Network Rail – the owner and operator of Britain’s mainline rail system. The Opportunity with NRC

We are looking for an Associate Director Station Operations & Development Lead to join our team in New York.

You will work as part of the NRC North America stations team, to lead and assist provision of advisory services to clients on station operations, management of station construction disruption and station developments.

Key Accountabilities

  • Advise clients and provide services related to station operations, in normal and emergency conditions and during construction activities, servicing strategies, passenger flows and intermodal activities.
  • Develop strategies to assist clients in the above areas
  • Deliver projects to exceed client expectations
  • Work as a key member of the stations team, taking responsibility for project leadership and management where required
  • Identify and implement safety, asset performance, reliability, productivity and efficiency improvement initiatives as applicable to any projects
  • Serve as technical leader and provide technical content for project proposals related to stations and station redevelopment
  • Develop and make presentations as part of sales calls, proposal interviews, and in North American meetings
  • Identify consulting opportunities both on sole source and competitive basis related to stations.
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships

Job Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • In depth understanding of station or terminal operations and operational interfaces in a railroad or airport environment
  • Past work in retail and passenger experience settings for transportation centers or work experience from the hospitality industry
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work on own in time critical environment as well as work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to work across a multidisciplinary team and establish relationships at all levels.

Desirable 

  • Member of a relevant professional body with chartered status
  • Managing stakeholders experience 
  • Retail development and management experience 
  • Experience in a consulting environment 
  • Understanding of the economics of station operations and station commercial activity
