About the opportunity:                  

Building on our continued success and growth, NRC Australia currently has a great opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineering & Systems Assurance Manager to join the team based in Melbourne, Victoria.

In this role, you will lead the development of capability and delivery of Rail Systems Engineering & Systems Assurance Consulting Services within Victoria and other states as required. You will have the opportunity to build on the creation and management of an interdisciplinary systems engineering approach for Railway Programs by providing technical and project delivery expertise.

What you will be involved in:

  • Develop and deliver services using best-practise systems engineering and assurance methods;
  • Manage engagements and work within engineering teams in the delivery of projects to clients within the related designated practice;
  • Apply systems engineering and assurance practices to complex, safety-critical, socio-technical systems in the rail domain;
  • Use appropriate Systems Engineering and Model Based Systems Engineering toolsets (for example DOORS Next Generation, Genesys) to support projects to deliver and manage requirements, architectures, operational models, interfaces, risks, V&V and configuration change within Systems Engineering Frameworks;
  • Develop, analyse and agree requirements to ensure the system definition meets user needs, is traceable and a high quality system definition is maintained throughout the Systems Engineering lifecycle;
  • Lead on the identification, analysis and management of hazards, including facilitating stakeholder workshops;
  • Cultivate strong relationships with Subject Matter Experts and stakeholders within Railway Programs, and SESA specialists in NRC UK; and
  • Support, develop and grow the NRC business by assisting colleagues in tender and sales activities, identifying opportunities for new or follow-on work in areas of expertise and fostering positive relationships with current and potential clients.

Experience & Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Extensive experience leading Systems Engineering and Systems Assurance activities within complex Railway Signalling projects;
  • Demonstrated experience using requirements and architecture management tools, for example, DOORS Next Generation and/or Genesys;
  • Understanding of digital signalling technology, in particular ETCS Level 2, ATO, CBTC and Traffic Management Systems;
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering disciplines including RAMS, Human Factors and Cyber Security.
  • Experience delivering rail project work packages to successful completion on time and within budget;
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and accurately capture, interpret, and implement agreed solutions or changes as required; and
  • Degree qualified and Chartered Engineer.

Desirable:

  • Experience managing a team of Systems Engineers.
