About the opportunity:                   

Building on our continued success and growth, NRC Australia currently has a great opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineering & Systems Assurance Engineer to join the team based in Melbourne, Victoria.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work across a diverse project-based business, supporting the Systems Integration, Requirements Management, Systems Engineering V-lifecycle management, and development of Safety Assurance frameworks for major infrastructure system upgrades across the region.

Essential requirements:

  • Experience in practicing Systems Engineering and/or Safety Assurance activities;
  • Experience using a Systems Engineering approach to develop system architectures and requirements that meet the needs of the client;
  • Broad technical understanding of rail systems and an ability to converse with technical SMEs on technical issues/topics;
  • Able to work with the Systems Engineering and Systems Assurance Lead to follow/manage the safety assurance framework;
  • Experienced in managing the integration of sub-systems, and support the progressive assurance of development activities;
  • Knowledge of risk identification and management, working to eliminate or reduce all safety risk to as low as reasonably practicable;
  • Ensure all deliverables are produced according to the Systems Engineering Management Plan and Systems Assurance frameworks;
  • Demonstrated experience producing technical documents that are free from error and well formatted.

Experience & Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Relevant degree qualified professional or equivalent demonstrable experience;
  • Experience using requirement management tools, for example, DOORS Next Generation;
  • Understanding of digital signalling programs, in particular ETCS Level 2, ATO, CBTC and Traffic Management Systems;
  • Experience of delivering rail project work packages to successful completion on time and within budget;
  • Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer working towards Chartered status.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and accurately capture, interpret, and implement agreed changes as required;
  • Good communication skills to interface with clients and internal stakeholders; and
  • Ability to promptly investigate safety related/technical issues and recommend the implementation of corrective actions;

Desirable:

  • Experience using Model Based System Engineering tools, for example, GENESYS will be highly regarded.
