About the Role

NRC supports multiple US clients from our strategic locations in Washington DC, New York City, and Boston, as well as West Coast clients from our offices in California and Seattle.

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager for our Seattle location.

You will provide support to our internal project teams and our clients, working closely with the Project Manager to support and lead key PMO functions, including project planning, risk management, and client delivery, while also supporting with team coordination and project administration, including the management of finances, resource allocation, schedule, and status reporting to the client.

What will you be doing?

  • Maintaining and monitoring project resource plans, project schedules, work hours, budget, forecasting and expenditure.
  • Organizing, attending, and participating in a variety of stakeholder meetings and audits.
  • Documenting and following up on important actions and decisions from meetings, chasing both within the team and client and contract package teams where necessary.
  • Reviewing and preparing presentation materials for meetings and workshops.
  • Providing administrative support as needed and reviewing and preparing project outputs and reporting.
  • Coordinating, Subject Matter Expert (SME) activities and resource planning, while obtaining appropriate approvals and management of SME visits.
  • Support the assignment lead in managing the overall assignment WBS/PBS, project schedule and budget – including analysis and reporting where necessary
  • Support the safety/business risk management - working with stakeholders to identify change and its relevant risks, and subsequently managing project logs and collecting/summarizing actions and progress
  • Provide support to audit tasks - including comparing action/risk logs & project/program schedules as well as managing the administration of audit processes
  • Providing document control across the program and coordinating the adequate storage of evidence and reporting related to the assessment activities.
  • Ensure data quality and compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Assist the Client, Project Manager or project team as required.

About You

Job Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level with a relevant degree/equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated project management experience within the railroad/transit sectors.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end project lifecycle and project management concepts.
  • Practical experience using formal risk management tools and processes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and client engagement skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • A relevant qualification such as PRINCE2 or PMP is desirable
  • Ability to work across a multidisciplinary team and establish relationships at all levels

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) rules and regulations.
