About you:

  • Food safety knowledge
  • An understanding of Manual Handling, Infection Control, COSHH, First Aid and Health and Safety, risks including environmental health and fire safety requirements in a health or care home setting.
  • An understanding of the specialist needs of the client / user group particularly around working in a regulated environment.  
  • Understanding of the requirements of working in a CQC regulated environment and the CQC’s Single Assessment Framework view of quality and performance.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding, Data Protection and GDPR requirements
  • An understanding of the CQC’s Single Assessment Framework view of quality and performance with a willingness to share examples of good quality care 
  • Understanding of Safeguarding, Data Protection and GDPR requirements  
  • ICT literate with the ability to use computerised systems and application on a daily basis. 
  • Ability to work flexibly with unsocial hours.
  • Team player, motivated, enthusiastic and able to build positive relationships.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills are essential.

Job Role:

  • 5 hrs a week over 5 days Mon to Sun, 9.00 – 16.00 including every other weekend and bank holidays.
  • Working under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, Home Manager and management team to ensure the residents receive a good standard of hospitality service.
  • Promote choice in relation to food and drink whilst contributing to the wellbeing of residents by providing a good standard of service around mealtimes & mealtime activities 
  • Setup and maintain the dining room and café area, ensuring the environment meets the required standards at all times 
  • Assist the catering and care team in serving food and drinks within the dining and café area 
  • Assist with food tray preparation, delivery and retrieval where needed  
  • Assist residents in enjoying healthy nutritious meals and engage with residents around choices whilst creating a homely environment and positive experience at mealtimes. at  
  • Ensure safety of residents, staff, visitors and premises through reporting and recording all    emergencies, incidents and accidents in accordance with Outlook Care procedures and by ensuring food safety and hygiene is a priority   
  • Ensure safety of residents by reporting concerns regarding their health, safety and wellbeing to the person in charge 
  • Support the Activities Co-ordinator to assist in providing stimulating activities to individuals in their rooms as well as all other meaningful activities and events involving food and drink.
  • Contribute to the ethos of St Georges by engaging with service users to understand their particular needs  
  • Providing food and drinks between mealtimes for individuals, including those individuals who stay in their rooms 
  • Undertake other duties as required
