Overview:

We’re recruiting in Aberdeen for an Assistant Support Manager to come and join our team in the Aberdeen Mental Health Service.  This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced frontline worker looking to progress and develop their management skills.  The post will be split equally between delivering support and the day to day management of the service.  

The service delivers high quality support to people experiencing severe and enduring mental health challenges.  Working on an outreach basis within people’s homes and the local community, the service aims to empower people to make informed choices about their daily living through promoting wellbeing and recovery.  With the aim of equipping people with the skills needed to live independently and meaningfully within their local community, the service uses a strengths-based approach to enable people to set and achieve their own goals one step at a time.

The postholder will bring a flexible and positive approach to delivering quality recovery focused support whilst actively discharging management duties.

Overview:

The role of Recovery Practitioner (Peer) has been developed specifically for people who have lived experience of mental health problems. Through sharing learning from their own experience, peer workers will inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible. Within a relationship of mutuality and information sharing, Practitioners will promote self-management and opportunities for improved health and wellbeing.

Aberdeenshire 1st Response is specifically designed for people aged 16 years and above who require short term support or who may be at crisis point.  This includes those who self-harm, attempt suicide or who are experiencing high levels of distress.


People accessing the service will receive sensitive and non-judgmental one-to-one support, information and signposting to relevant organisations.  The Recovery Practitioner (Peer) will work with people to ensure they are listened to, whilst using planning tools to support them to manage their next steps.

Penumbra is one of Scotland’s largest mental health charities. Through our innovative recovery focussed approach to mental health support, we offer a range of services in communities across Scotland, and our teams support around 1800 adults and young people each week. Our Peers4Hope team here in North Ayrshire draw on lived experience from their own mental health recovery to support people accessing our service through a compassionate and non-judgemental approach.

The successful applicant for the post of Recovery Practitioner (Peer) will use insight from lived experience to assist people who use the service to establish and maintain a meaningful and fulfilling life.

Constitution Street delivers a high quality Care at Home and Housing Support service for adults with severe and enduring mental health challenges. Supporting 11 individual tenancies and community based outreach support, the service operates on a 24/7 basis.

With the aim of equipping people with the skills needed to live independently and meaningfully within the local community, a strengths based coaching approach to recovery is used to build confidence, maintain motivation and promote resilience. Alongside this we also provide practical support with food preparation, medication, budgeting and other daily living skills.

Promoting participation and inclusion is a core value of the service, through working alongside people to deliver innovative, creative and personalised interventions and opportunities.

The service is registered with the Care Inspectorate and you will ensure that it meets all relevant standards and complies with all relevant contractual and legal requirements.
