Overview:

The Redress support service is a new initiative that aims to remove barriers that individuals might face in their application for financial redress. The service will deliver emotional and practical support to applicants as required during their application process. Link Workers provide support to those who contact, or are referred, to the service. The aim is to provide short-term support, and to arrange supports, from a pre-defined menu of options where support requirements appear to require more than the initial support conversations.

Overview:

Our ARBD supported accommodation is based in Bardowie Street in Glasgow’s Possilpark, and is an assessment centre for people who have been diagnosed with ARBD or possible ARBD.  We provide a safe and positive environment in which people can develop the life skills and confidence to actively move towards and define their recovery.

The service provides bespoke and proactive support to identify and address the individual’s needs, placing them at the heart of their support. With an emphasis on independence and empowerment, people are helped to move toward self-identified goals. While there is an element of collaborative group work, this is at all times focused on improving self-esteem and addressing issues such loneliness, social exclusion and addiction in a supportive peer environment.

Overview:

 DBI provides an ‘ask once get help fast approach’ and has two levels, a Level 1 response from frontline partnership agencies and Level 2 supportive interventions delivered by Penumbra.

A Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner (Peer) will respond to a referral made on behalf of a person experiencing distress within 24 hours, with the provision of time limited support. The Practitioner will then deliver community-based problem-solving support, wellness and distress management planning, supported connections and signposting for a period of up to 14 days.

Overview:

 

Since 2016, Penumbra have been providing Peer Support within GP Practices in Angus. In 2020, Angus Health & Social Care commissioned Peer Workers to be based within every GP Practice in Angus. Penumbra currently provide Peer Support to adults over the age of 16, within 7 GP Practices in South Angus.

This service provides the opportunity for anyone over the age of 16 years to speak to a Peer Worker about their mental health challenges and to consider what options they have to help them feel more in control of managing their mental health.

Peer Workers offer authenticity and a unique insight that can enable and empower positive wellbeing.  Within this role, the Peer Worker will use their own lived experience of mental health challenges to inspire hope in people who use the service, as well as share coping and self-management techniques.

One to one support will be delivered in GP Practices. There will also be an opportunity within this role to co-facilitate wellbeing workshops.

Dundee’s Nova Service works with adults (over the age of 16) who are experiencing various degrees of mental health challenges and live in Dundee City. Overview:

 Penumbra Milestone is a partnership with NHS Lothian, City of Edinburgh Council (Department of Health and Social Care) and Waverley Care.

It is an alcohol-free 10-bedded step-down unit to provide short-term care for vulnerable men and women, aged 18+, who have a diagnosis of Alcohol Related Brain Damage (ARBD).

The emphasis on the unit is to maintain capacity to reduce delay in acute hospitals whilst providing an environment conducive to rehabilitation and recovery from the patient’s cognitive impairment.

The post holder will deliver safe and effective nursing care to people who have Alcohol Related Brain Damage, and associated health conditions. They will liaise and work in partnership with the relevant statutory, voluntary and independent agencies, ensuring that the work of Penumbra is promoted and publicised in a positive manner.
