Our sites are based in Forest Hall, Killingworth, and Jesmond.

The Role

We are looking for an individual to join our team on a temporary basis to cover a maternity leave. The post will be based within the Percy Hedley Foundation’s Health and Wellbeing Services which includes adult day services, adult residential services and Adult Independent Supported Living Services. Our adult and provisions are 18+ who have moderate to severe learning disability with associated mental health difficulties and may use non-speaking means to express what they need.   

The post holder will be an experienced practitioner who has a sound working knowledge of models promoting good quality of life including Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) (where appropriate); Reducing Restrictive Practice; Co-Production; and Trauma Informed Practice, and is passionate about promoting the rights of adults with disabilities their families and systems of support.   

The postholder will work with a number of people who are presenting with high levels of distress and dysregulation. They will work within the previously mentioned frameworks to understand the needs of these adults to promote good quality of life. They will work closely alongside colleagues within Health, Social Care, NHS sectors, focusing on reducing restrictive practices across different settings and environments. This work will include identifying and addressing workforce development issues and service re-design where needed.   

The post holder will work alongside other members of Health and Wellbeing to develop and deliver the strategy, specifically with a focus on training on Quality of Life and will mentor staff who are progressing through the BTEC/Diploma PBS training.
