What is the role?

This is an exciting opportunity for a Company Solicitor to join the Legal Team. 

This role can be based in our Essex, Exeter, Northampton or York offices.

Reporting to the Group Director of Legal Services and the Chief Commercial Officer, the position will involve those as follows:

The role will include:

  • Managing a varied workload of non-contentious matters for the Group’s Procurement, Technical, Construction and Commercial Teams in relation to:
    • supply contracts for goods and services,
    • contracts for the supply and fix of goods,
    • contracts for the hire of plant and machinery,
    • appointments for professionals and contractors,
    • warranties, novation agreements, variations, NDAs and associated documentation
    • Ensuring compliance with statutory duties
    • Drafting and amending contracts
    • Advising and drafting procurement documents
    • Negotiating with third parties
    • Updating and refreshing current policies
  • Assessing commercial risk in contracts, liaising with the Group insurers and Group Litigation Solicitor where required.
  • Delivering training to procurement and other teams where required
  • Promoting and supporting the development of new ways of working within the procurement team

General

  • Reporting communicating with and attending meetings with the Directors of the regional Operational Companies and the above teams in connection with legal work being undertaken.
  • Attending meetings in other Persimmon offices as required.
  • Promoting and supporting the development of new ways of working within the procurement team and other Group functions.

  • Solicitor qualification
  • Personable, motivated and organised individual with experience of working in a busy office environment
  • Ability to proactively deal with confidential matters.
