What you’ll do as an Tax Technical Advisory Specialist
As Tax Specialist you will:
- Support the Group Tax function in responding to general tax queries, including VAT and indirect tax, developing technical expertise and acting as a key internal contact, with appropriate escalation where required.
- Research and analyse tax issues including VAT, SDLT and other land tax issues across England, Scotland and Wales, interpreting legislation and guidance and producing clear written analysis.
- Review Group VAT returns prepared by the Tax Trainee, using analytical review and sampling techniques to identify issues and build confidence in risk areas.
- Undertake site and desktop compliance reviews across multiple tax areas.

What experience do I need?
We’re looking for a high‑calibre tax generalist rather than a fully‑formed indirect tax specialist.

- Solid grounding in UK tax fundamentals, with interest in VAT and land‑related taxes.
- Experience preparing, reviewing or supporting VAT returns is desirable rather than essential.

- Proactive, curious and motivated to build technical expertise.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively and escalating appropriately.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, commercial environment.
