What is the role?
The purpose of the role is to be responsible for supporting Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors in their commercial management duties.
Primary Responsibilities
- Undertaking administrative duties to support the team
- Raising pre-agreed orders
- Reviewing subcontractor matrices
- Managing the simpler payment and simpler aspects of loading budgets
- To primarily be responsible for at least 3 sites of varying complexity whilst setting up budgets, producing bi-monthly valuations, appointing subcontractors and making subcontractor payments to maintain close cost control and enable management decisions
- Ensure weekly and monthly payments are processed efficiently, any disputed items are resolved, allowing site works to proceed unhindered and give an accurate picture of site financial status
- Produce site valuations on a bi-monthly basis and present to the Board of Directors to indicate any variation from budgeted figures
- Undertake negotiations to obtain the optimum rates for sub-contract appointments to maximise margins
- Utilise the Persimmon Group COINS system to set up new sites and establish budget, predicting site profitability for financial planning verification
- Liaison with other departments on time to ensure sites run efficiently (Construction, Sales, Customer Care, Accounts)
- Comply with responsibilities as defined in the Group’s Health, Safety & Environment Policy and ensure compliance with the same throughout the team to promote safety in the way we build projects
What experience do I need?
- Full UK driving license is advantageous
- Understanding of HSE building regulations and legal guidelines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Fully conversant with Microsoft Package, including Excel and Word
- Familiar with balance sheets, profit and loss accounts and business plans
