Support Worker

We are pleased to announce we have an exciting opportunity here at Potens for a Support Worker.

Walmersley Road in Bury is a registered residential home for adults with autism and learning disabilities. Walmersley Road has been accredited by the National Autistic Society (NAS) as providing appropriate support for individuals on the autistic spectrum. The NAS made particular reference to the staff team’s skills in promoting independence, enabling service user involvement, and focusing on outcomes.

The service is a large, detached property close to the local amenities of Bury and transport links to Manchester. The home has six bedrooms with one rehabilitation flat.

• Will involve various shifts between the hours of 8 am and 10 pm, and will also require you to cover some waking nights when needed.

 What you’ll be doing:

• Promoting independence and supporting with daily activities.
• Taking part in the chosen activities and interests of the people we support, both within the service and out in the community.
• Personal care.
• Supporting with finances, budgets, and shopping.

Who you are:

• The successful candidate will have the aptitude, desire, and commitment to work in social care with adults with a variety of needs.
• Flexible with a ‘can do’ attitude.
• Motivated and a team player.
• Experience working in a social care setting supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism is preferred, but not essential.
• Will involve various shifts between the hours of 8 am and 10 pm and will require you to cover some waking nights when needed.
• Weekend and Bank holiday working is required.
• Driver with a manual license preferred, but not essential.
