Support Worker
We are pleased to announce we have an exciting opportunity here at Potens for a Bank Support Worker.
Please note that sponsorship is not available for this role.
The role will be based at Dale House, but you may also be required to support at our service Cecil Court in Langley Moor.
Dale House is a Supported Living service based in Stanley, providing accommodation and support for nine people with learning disabilities and complex needs. Here we have a homely environment, where we encourage and support with daily living activities and facilitating access to local inclusive community activities.
Cecil Court is in the heart of Langley Moor village, and the property has 18 one-bedroom apartments. We provide specialised support to 18 adults with mental health needs. Our service is recovery focused, empowering the people we support, to progress to living independent lives, within the local community.
All applicants who rely on public transport must live in the Durham area due to start/finish times.

What you’ll be doing:
- Assisting the people, we support to engage in activities within the local community.
- The support we give is focused on boosting morale, increasing levels of existing skills, and to support the learning of new skills.
- You will motivate the people we support to rebuild their confidence and assist them to see a bright future for themselves.
- We operate on a person-centred approach, where we enjoy taking the lead and hearing ideas from the people we support.
- You will have the flexibility to cover a range of shifts (early, late, long days, waking nights and sleep ins) and days (including weekends and bank holidays). These shifts would include, 8am to 8pm, waking nights 8pm to 9am and sleep ins 8pm to 8am.
Who you are:
- Flexible and open to change.
- Positive with a “can do attitude”.
- Mental Health knowledge is preferred, however, not essential, as full training will be provided.
- Highly motivated with the ability to encourage others.
- All applicants who rely on public transport must live in the Durham area due to start/finish times.
- Drivers preferred.
