Assistant Portfolio Manager

Assistant Portfolio Manager – Commercial Lending

Working alongside our experienced Relationship Managers you will manage a portfolio of Commercial clients and support the execution of large commercial deals, manage completions, and maintain high service standards across a diverse portfolio. This is a hands-on, relationship-focused role that combines technical credit expertise with customer interaction.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing a portfolio of commercial clients
  • Supporting deal execution and managing completions for commercial property transactions
  • Maintaining regular contact with customers through face-to-face and phone meetings
  • Preparing high-quality credit submissions and supporting documentation (SARGA / CLAPM / Fastrack)
  • Managing risk and income across the portfolio through timely customer renewals and internal reviews
  • As opportunities arise, producing and negotiating Term Sheets and loan documentation in line with policy
  • Supporting the wider Relationship Management team with deal structuring and analysis
  • Representing the Society at commercial property events to grow our brand and network

What we’re looking for:

  • Knowledge of credit risk and commercial lending principles
  • Knowledge of legal and financial documentation, including security perfection
  • Competent user of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of CLASS system (desirable but not essential)
  • Familiarity with the commercial real estate landscape in Wales, London, and the Southeast (desirable)

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to compliance and internal standards
  • Ownership of personal contribution to team targets and business plan
