Why consider this opportunity?

This role offers an opportunity to further develop your skills and make a meaningful contribution within Principality, while continuing to benefit from the culture and ways of working you already know:

  • Purpose-led work – Our continued recognition for customer satisfaction, including Double Gold Awards at the Fairer Finance Awards 2025 for Savings and Mortgages, reflects the impact colleagues make every day.

  • Strong colleague engagement – Engagement scores consistently above 85% demonstrate the positive environment we strive to maintain together.

  • Wellbeing support – Our Belong benefits package continues to support your physical, mental, and financial wellbeing throughout your career with us.

These achievements are built by our people and reflect our shared commitment to supporting one another and delivering for our members. When it comes to belonging, there truly is no place like Principality — and this role is an opportunity to continue growing as part of it.

We’re looking for an ambitious Data Protection Analyst to join the team on a 12 month fixed term contract, who can provide advice, assistance and oversight to the organisation in respect of Data Protection matters and promote responsible Data Protection practices.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing risk-based advice, assistance and oversight on Data Protection matters, promoting Data Protection by Design and ensuring Data Protection and privacy issues are considered at the outset of new projects, products and initiatives.
  • Developing and embedding a culture of responsible Data Protection practice through training and regular communications.
  • Undertaking Data Protection Impact Assessment screenings and other standard risk mitigation activities, making recommendations to business areas to strengthen controls and providing oversight implementation of these controls.
  • Maintaining the Record of Processing Activities under guidance from senior team colleagues, ensuring all entries have a clear basis for processing, and provide advice to first line teams to allow customers to exercise their enhanced rights.
  • Assisting first line teams to embed and adhere to specific Data Protection standards and procedures, including use of tools such as file scanning.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the Data Protection team, including the DPO, to ensure actions arising out of Data Protection incidents are completed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience of working within a Data Protection or Privacy function.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK Data Protection legislation and association legislation (including Privacy & Electronic Communications Regulations).
  • Previous experience of working within the Financial Services sector or similar regulated industry.
  • A recognised Data Protection or Privacy qualification (e.g. BCS, PDP or IAPP), or the appetite to complete relevant studies within 12-month period.
  • A confident communicator, able to guide and influence stakeholders in the adoption of Data Privacy controls.
  • A keen desire for continuous improvement in the delivery of Data Protection advice, assistance and oversight.
  • Able to bring innovative ideas around use of data within the Society, with ability to implement and deliver benefits.
