Head of Data Analytics - 12 month FTC
We’re looking for an experienced Head of Data Analytics to be a key member of our Senior Leadership Team. In this critical role, you will lead the business analytics strategy, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
You'll drive digital transformation by evaluating current systems and implementing solutions to optimise processes and enhance analytics capabilities. As part of the senior leadership, you’ll also engage directly with clients, requiring strong interpersonal and leadership skills to manage relationships and influence outcomes. With full accountability for data governance, you will ensure data integrity and alignment with business goals, delivering impactful results across the company.
Duties will include:
- Lead the development and support the delivery of the business intelligence strategy aligned with business goals.
- Support service delivery, decision making, planning, business development, and reporting through effective forecasting.
- Lead data analytics projects to enhance data capabilities and data driven decision making across the business.
- Manage and work collaboratively with suppliers to enhance business processes, improve data accuracy and improve end-user experience.
- Lead digital transformation for the business by evaluating current systems and recommend solutions for relevant systems to support effective data analytics within the business.
- Develop and implement technology roadmap for the business, support management of IT infrastructure through managed service provider (MSP) and manage IT budget ensuring cost-effective for projects and system upgrades.
- Implement and track training for wider business on the importance data protection and good practices with cyber security.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the analytics team resulting in a high performing team.
- Championing the Colleague Survey along with developing and delivering actions from Colleague Survey plans.
Data Governance
- Data Compliance Officer for the business, enforce policies to ensure data security and compliance.
- Report and investigate data breaches with recommendation to mitigate risks
- Understand GDPR & UK data protection law and how this applies to business processes, manage Subject Access Requests (SARs) process and deliver within timeframes.
- Mitigate business against cyber security risks, supported through IT managed service provider (MSP), understand vulnerability scans and action recommendations.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Expert in Excel including understanding complex formula, pivot tables and VBA.
- Experience in using data visualisation tool such as Power BI.
- Understanding of SQL databases and SQL code to maintain databases.
- Knowledge of machine learning, AI and data science processes through programming language such as R or Python.
- Proven experience of working in a high performing team to achieve challenging targets.
- Strong ability to reason under uncertainty, combine analytical thinking with contextual knowledge and use critical thinking to extract and interpret information from data. Translate complex data into meaningful business insight and recommendations.
- Champion continuous professional development by staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and adapt strategies accordingly, encourage across the team.
- Experience of co-ordinating multi-disciplinary teams to develop and successfully implement projects.
- A flexible approach to working hours as we are a 24/7 business.
Desirable:
- Develop business intelligence strategies aligned with business goals and technology trends.
- Understanding of Power Automate, Logic Apps and Power Apps.
- Experience with big data technologies and cloud platforms.
- Demonstrable experience of working with Board level and senior leaders.
Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential
- Degree in relevant subject (Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics or related field) or a minimum of 3 years relevant and equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of data security and frameworks.
- Experience with BI tools such as Power BI.
- Understanding of data protection laws and GDPR.
- Driving Licence.
Desirable:
- Experience in database management or data engineering.
- Knowledge of security protocols, firewalls and cyber security compliance standards.
- Knowledge of the transport sector.
