Exciting Opportunity
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Maths / English Tutor to work with the ‘See Yourself Succeed’ Education team within Cronk Sollysh Children’s Secure home and within the community supporting Looked after Children.
The ideal candidate will have the skills to build positive relationships which actively encourages engagement in education and meaningful activities. They will be multi-skilled, with a range of talents, and whilst being able to deliver tuition in the core subjects Maths and English, will also be able to offer additional learning support in life skills, or other curriculum-based or creative subjects depending on your own strengths and creativity.

The position includes predominately working within our Children’s Secure Home and in a peripatetic role with our young people in the residential homes. About the Role
Mainstream school life is often a challenge for young people in the care system, our job is to enable them to pursue their ambitions in education, work and leisure.
We aim to help young people develop core skills – both practical and academic, deepen their interests and explore new ideas. You will be involved in delivering group and one-to-one sessions, tailored to individual needs, working with the rest of the team to ensure our young people are provided with appropriate educational opportunities.

Teaching Experience

Experience working with young people in either mainstream or special education who display emotional/behavioural difficulties

Teaching certificate (preferred but not compulsory)

An ability to help identify and assess the needs of young people and formulate mutually appropriate plans of action

Knowledge of education support services, the education process and structure for learner and learning support

The ability to communicate effectively with young people, school and relevant agencies

The ability to monitor the outcome of projects/pieces of work and produce evaluations
