Learning & Development Manager


Overall Purpose

Create and drive the implementation of best practice learning and development policies, processes, frameworks and toolkits for head office and cinema-based roles across all markets.  

Drive the creation of highly competent managers and team members in delivering business and personal development goals.

Key Accountabilities

Drive the creation and implementation of standardised training frameworks for cinema and head office teams

  • Design modular based training frameworks, processes, and tool kits that deliver consistent company standards and behaviours and that also support career succession
  • Design and deliver a range of learning and development solutions that link to the overall HR strategy and business priorities
  • Design and deliver a range of learning and development solutions that develop key skills and knowledge of all managers and employees
  • Ensure legal compliance and that all learning and development supports company policy or procedure
  • Create the annual training calendar, ensuring that the content is linked to training needs identified from the annual performance reviews
  • Evaluate learning activities, materials and toolkits and review if they have the desired impact and deliver the business goals.
  • Develop capability of managers to enable them to use all training frameworks, toolkits and modules
  • Work closely with the HR leads, operations teams, and line managers to help diagnose and define learning and development needs and operational training needs within our cinema and head office teams
  • With our head office teams, coach managers to improve their level of confidence and ability to identify and manage the training, development and performance of their teams where required
  • Bring the culture and values to life through all initiatives implemented

Reporting and Analytics

  • Create and put in place group wide learning dashboards, metrics and management reporting
  • Using factual data, identify trends, issues and potential areas for improvement

 External partnerships

  • Identify and build effective partnerships with external professionals or organizations to assist with the achievement of our learning and development goals and objectives

The Person

Knowledge and experience

  • Experienced learning professional who has held senior learning & development roles, of an equivalent scale, across multiple European markets (ideally to include UK and Germany)
  • Deep understanding and experience of working across multi-site customer facing businesses in retail, hospitality or leisure
  • Up to date familiarity and working knowledge of how to develop and deploy learning solutions within an operational context (e.g., learning methodologies/ styles/ approaches, training frameworks, training tool kits, train the trainer, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience delivering the full training cycle
  • Proven success in creating and rolling out training frameworks and toolkits across different countries, driven by operational teams
  • Excellent understanding of the differences between various roles within organisations
  • Proven pan European exposure to multiple markets with different cultures and ways of working
  • Experience of delivering operational excellence in a matrix organisational structure
  • Proven experience in working at both a strategic and operational level
  • Graduate level or equivalent

  • Prioritisation: Is structured, organised and has a good attention to detail
  • Problem solving: Ability to probe and establish real issues, identifying correct solutions
  • Project management: Ability to effectively develop and manage project plans, engaging and managing all key stakeholders to ensure required outputs are delivered on time and to the required standards
  • IT literate: Excel - able to build basic models; PowerPoint - able to create effective presentations and documents; Word - high level of ability

Location description

Our head office is based in 1 Ariel Way, Westfield, London and our working hours are 37.5 hours per week with an option to work from home one day per week (Friday). It’s home to our International Group and UK & Ireland teams. They collaborate with our cinemas every day – driving innovation, growth and success across our business and all in the name of delivering the ultimate big screen experience.
