Position Overview.

As a DDaT Network Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the planning, deployment, and ongoing support of our network infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and optimal performance of our network systems, both on-premises and in the cloud. Working closely with colleagues and cross-functional teams, you will contribute to the innovation and continuous improvement of our technology landscape.

Job Purpose: Oversee, maintain, and support the operation of the Authority’s DDaT networking Infrastructure. Take a proactive leadership role in managing Network Infrastructure in alignment with the Authority's DDaT strategy. Provide support and expert guidance on DDaT systems architecture and development, including handling technical escalations.  

Key Responsibilities: The role involves upholding the DDaT Service Level Agreement, ensuring all support requests comply with ITIL processes, and delivering consistent, positive support activities. Additionally, it includes managing and maintaining network connectivity systems, troubleshooting performance issues, supporting technical escalations, contributing to infrastructure development, and project managing medium-scale DDaT infrastructure changes.   

Essential requirements: The essential requirements for the role include significant experience in managing and delivering LAN/WAN network connectivity solutions within a complex, multi-site organisation, and specific knowledge in areas such as LAN/WAN networking solutions, Cisco switching/routing, and Checkpoint firewalls. Additionally, candidates must have experience in delivering medium DDaT projects, be educated to degree level in a computer-related subject or have equivalent professional qualifications and possess ITIL Foundation certification.

Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to analyse complex data, work under pressure with effective time management skills, be flexible across multiple infrastructure disciplines, and communicate confidently at all levels. A commitment to Equality & Diversity, NFCC Core Code of Ethics, and WYFRS values, as well as holding a valid driving licence, are also essential.   

We offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid working. Whilst you will be required to work from our offices for parts of your initial training, after this you'll work both in the office and from home as part of our 'hybrid' working model. Therefore, applicants must have a reliable home internet connection.  

The post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service Check and the possession of current valid driving licence.
