You can help West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service by supporting our teams to deliver high quality Prevention activity. As a PAIT Officer, you will provide specialist advice and support to colleagues and partner agencies on high-risk individuals and groups. You will also research and develop new, evidence-based approaches to reducing risk, and use the Prevention Database to accurately record and assess the quality of prevention activity. Job Purpose:

The purpose of the PAIT Officer role is to support the delivery of the West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service's Safer Communities (Prevention) Strategy through effective engagement across all areas of prevention.  

Key Responsibilities:

To provide specialist advice on high-risk individuals and groups, develop evidence-based risk reduction approaches, manage prevention activity records, and create and improve procedures and training to support continuous improvement. 

Essential requirements:

A track record of success in community safety activities.

  • Effective communication with partner organizations, the public, and at-risk individuals.
  • Excellent knowledge of high-risk intervention practices and safeguarding.
  • Experience in developing and delivering education, awareness, and training for community safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with flexibility in working hours.
  • High standard of written and oral communication.
  • Willingness to work towards a relevant assessor qualification.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, including influencing and negotiating.
  • Ability to conduct in-depth research into home fire safety, arson, and road safety solutions.
  • Proficiency in using IT for information collation, analysis, and presentation.
  • Valid driving license.

These requirements ensure that the PAIT Officer is well-equipped to support community safety and prevention activities effectively. 

We offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid working. Whilst you will be required to work from our offices for parts of your initial training, after this you'll work both in the office and from home as part of our 'hybrid' working model. Therefore, applicants will need a reliable home internet connection. 

The post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service Check and the possession of current valid driving licence as the role requires travel throughout West Yorkshire.
