Support Worker, 27 Hours Per Week, Permanent in Sandbach - Waking Nights

Our Support Workers work in a variety of settings including community-based services (often supporting people in their own homes) to our Treatment & Recovery Centres.
One thing that is common across all of our services is a focus on personalised support and tailoring our services to the needs and aspirations of the people we support with a diverse range of care needs (including Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Mental Health Concerns, Complex Care, Substance Misuse issues to name a few).

- be a good communicator (verbally and in writing)
- be patient, confident and enthusiastic about caring for others
- be able to use your own initiative
- be able to work as part of a team
- have flexibility to work a varied shift pattern to provide 24-hour support

We don’t ask for any other relevant training or a previous career in care as full training will be provided – you just need a willingness to learn and develop.
Your pay - our Support Workers receive a rate of £12.00 per hour for all worked hours. Once you are successful for a role with us, full details of your pay will be included in your written offer.

Where is this vacancy based?
This vacancy is based in Sandbach, Cheshire.
Who do you support?
We support 3 ladies and 1 gentleman with learning disabilities and some complex needs and mobility issues.
The gentleman can verbally communicate and is mobile in his home, using a transfer table to transfer.
He likes to get out and about in the community, pubs, cafes, social clubs and has his own mobility car.
One lady is fully mobile and uses taxis to access all her community activities.
One lady using a hoist and sling for all her transfers and she is a wheelchair user.
She also has her own mobility car which she uses to get out and about, shopping, day trips, cafes and pubs.
One lady we support is supported mostly in her bed due to her health needs.
Where do they live?
The property is a 4 bedroomed spacious bungalow in the village of Elworth.
It has a large enclosed garden, and it is positioned down a lane, it is on a bus route and there is a train station nearby.
What would a typical shift be like?
To support each person with their routines, personal care, bathing, dressing, using hoist and slings to transfer the person.
Communicating/chatting to the person.
Support with all their meals breakfast, lunch dinner, supper, activities in the community, at home activities, relaxing evenings, tv and music.
What activities do the people that we support at this property like to do?
Trips out to the pub, cafes, shopping, day trips, socialising in the garden, social clubs, seaside. listening to music, watching tv and baking.
Are there any skills or interests that a candidate could have that would be great to use to support this service?
Driver is desirable, good communication skills, sociable, sense of humour, able to push wheelchairs and able to work as part of a team.
What is the team here or is it lone-working?
You will work waking nights.
Full training will be given and experienced support staff will support you to gain the confidence and knowledge about the service and the people we support
What are your shift patterns?
Nights 10pm-7.30am
