Contract: Fixed term (12 months maternity cover), working 35 hours per week (Arts Council also recognises the benefit of flexible working as a valued part of the way we work, and welcome applications from individuals who require flexibility)

Salary: £30,631 per annum plus benefits including a final salary pension scheme, generous annual leave, and flexible and hybrid working. 

Location: Manchester or Birmingham (The role will be based at the office base listed; however, we are operating a hybrid way of working and support our staff to make use of remote working options when combined with regular on-site contact days with other members if the team, normally 1-2 days a week) 

 

About us: Arts Council England has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and skilled candidate to join our inclusive and welcoming team as an Officer in the Museums and Cultural Property team. This fixed term full-time role can be based in any of the office locations listed and offer a salary of £30,631 and a great benefits package.

The Museums and Cultural Property team delivers a range of national responsibilities that support the strategic development of museums and works with the cultural sector in securing, sustaining, preserving, advocating for and enabling access to collections in support of Arts Council’s Strategy Let’s Create!.  

About the Role: The role is varied, and no two days will be the same. You will contribute to, collaborate on and progress projects, process improvements, information management, and reporting across the Museums and Cultural Property team.

Here are some of the things you could expect to do: 

  • Supporting the delivery of strategic projects across Museums and Cultural Property and linked to schemes such as Acceptance in Lieu, Accreditation and Designation
  • Working with colleagues from Museums and Cultural Property, across Arts Council and the sector to review and develop programmes, tenders and initiatives.
  • Collating data and evidence about the running of our schemes and sharing the difference the work has made to museums and communities across the UK in a timely and effective way.
  • Working with the wider Arts Council team to collect and collate other research and access accurate insight and intelligence from the museums and art trade to inform the development of policy and strategy.
  • Increasing the accessibility of our web-based information and guidance and ensuring it is up-to-date, accurate and usable.

To apply for this role, you will need experience of working in a team to deliver projects and programmes and have the ability to work confidently and discretely with key stakeholders across Arts Council, within the cultural sector and from diverse backgrounds. You will also require:

  • A proactive and collaborative problem- solving ethos and, user focussed approach.
  • A well-developed ability to meet deadlines, maintaining confidentially and attention to detail.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills and the ability to synthesize large amounts of information.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
