Location – Central Support, Hemel Hempstead with some travel to our beautiful parks

 

What we need, in a nutshell:

An exciting opportunity where in this role, you will have a broad and varied remit which will include all aspects of the day to day running of the finance control function of Away Resorts. The Financial Controller will champion robust financial controls to safeguard the business and the integrity of the management and statutory accounts.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparation of management and statutory accounts ensuring financial accuracy and adherence to accounting standards in accordance with the group timetable
  • Lead the audit process on a daily basis and support the Director of Financial Control on areas of judgement
  • Working with the Director of Financial Control to continually develop and maintain an appropriate control environment for the group
  • Run the 13 week cashflow process
  • Ensure accurate preparation and timely submission of indirect tax returns including VAT, Gaming Duty, Bingo Duty and Gambling Commission submissions)
  • Work with external partners to support preparation, completion and submission of corporation tax returns
  • Assist with tax queries from 3rd parties
  • Deliver monthly balance sheet and indirect cashflow reporting and reconciliations
  • Lead, manage and develop a team of circa 7 qualified and part qualified accountants
  • Support other areas of Finance as required through the provision of relevant information and knowledge required by other teams
  • Support the Finance Transformation agenda and act as subject matter expert for all finance processes including supporting any finance systems and systems related investments to ensure they are fit for purpose
  • Build excellent working relationships across Central Support and the wider business

 

Skills, experience and qualities you’ll need:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Proven at having led finance teams across all facets of the function, with a proven track record in a high growth
  • Previous experience as a Financial Controller or Group Reporting Manager in Medium to Large sized business  
  • Ability to work under pressure, providing accurate high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills
