Financial Reporting & Tax Manager

What we need in a nutshell

We’re looking for a Financial Reporting & Tax Manager to join our Central Support team and play a key role in keeping our finances accurate, compliant and moving forward.

You’ll take ownership of our Group consolidation process, production of our group accounts, drive our group audit process and oversee a wide range of statutory and tax requirements.

It’s a varied role, with plenty of opportunity to get involved in exciting projects across the business, from acquisitions and disposals to system implementations.

What you'll be doing

• Owning key balance sheet accounts, ensuring integrity & accuracy – including fixed assets and inventory
• Co-ordinating with Group stock management team and Sales functions to ensure accurate accounting and VAT treatment applied
• Oversee production of the Group and subsidiary statutory accounts
• Co-ordination with Group auditor to deliver successful year-end audit
• Keeping on top of new and upcoming accounting guidance, assessing the impact on the business and liaising with external advisors to ensure these are appropriately reflected in group accounts
• Managing the quarterly VAT return process

• Preparing corporation tax computations, working alongside our external tax advisors
• Ensuring up to date documentation of  VAT and Corporation Tax matters and leading on resolution of any HMRC enquiries

• Drive our rolling tax agenda, identifying opportunities to streamline and optimise our tax position alongside our external tax consultants.
• Technical lead on corporate projects, including acquisitions, disposals and system implementations.
• Identify opportunities for simplification or automation and drive implementation.
• Understanding the business and providing guidance on the accounting or tax implications of new initiatives.
• Helping to support an inclusive and collaborative finance environment where we strive to get things right first time, every time.

Skills, experience, and qualities you'll need

• You’ll be a qualified accountant – ideally ACA.
• Proven experience working across a broad range of finance functions, ideally within a high-growth environment.
• Previous experience in financial reporting, tax matters and controls within a medium to large-sized business.
• Experience within a consumer-facing business would be desirable
• Supported year end process including production of statutory accounts

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting and tax matters clearly and concisely to a range of stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and analytical skills.
• The ability to work under pressure and deliver accurate, high-quality work to tight deadlines
