We are a leading land based College with a 300 hectare mixed farm including arable, sheep, beef and pig enterprises.  As an educational institution specialising in supporting the land based industries, the Farm is at the core of our activities.

We seek a highly professional business manager to take on the role of Farm Director accountable to the Principal and Board.  The role with lead and support the work of the Working Farm Manager and their team.

The farm benefits from our status as part of the Institute of Technology with a full complement of cutting edge equipment, machinery and excellent partnerships with industry. This role is looking to the future with a focus on strategy, projects and business administration.

The postholder will also support our academic teams at our campuses in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and will provide lecturing support to Higher Education students.  The College will support this aspect of the role with training and qualifications.

The successful applicant will have the expertise to act as the College’s lead practitioner in all aspects of agriculture and will have managed at a fully commercially accountable level. They will have proven people skills and will be able to demonstrate the achievement of high standards in all aspects of business performance and administration. We are looking for someone who is up for challenge, ambitious and ready to lead and manage our Women and Girls Rugby programme at Bishop Burton College to the next level!

Our Women and Girls rugby programme is offering students who have achieved the necessary talent and educational requirements, at least 16 hours of Rugby related study & skills per week.

The successful candidate will also work as an ambassador for Bishop Burton College to ensure there are strong links with local, regional and other partner clubs and institutions as well as be qualified to at least Level 2 coach standard with knowledge of long-term athlete development.

The Girls and Women’s Rugby programme will be competing in the newly formed Girls Performance Colleges & Schools league which is a 10-team league and includes teams such as Hartpury College, Loughborough, Worthing College, SGS Bristol, Exeter College, City of Oxford College, Henley College, Oaklands and Newman.

We are also looking for an effective communicator with the ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with young people as well as someone who is willing to be part of a dynamic, passionate and collaborative sports coaching team.

We are looking for somebody who has a passion for dogs and delivering outstanding customer service. As a kennels technician you will be responsible for all aspects of the customer experience journey. This includes working the reception desk and dealing with clients face to face and on the phone. The role includes general husbandry such as feeding of dogs, cleaning, administering medication, taking for walks locking up the kennels at least one night.

Would you like to work on an exciting new pig enterprise, and be part of a wider mixed farm team? With also opportunities for training and development?

Bishop Burton Farm is a fully commercial farm and part of Bishop Burton College, consisting of arable, cattle, sheep and a pig enterprise to enhance the experience of our students.

We are seeking a pig stockperson to help on our brand new 300 sow breeding unit on the Bishop Burton College Farm. The chosen candidate, working alongside the pig unit manager, will undertake all routine tasks associated on a breeding to weaning unit. Working with fantastic facilities including a new farrowing facility and refurbished dry sow accommodation with a high level of automation. As a member of the wider farm team, this role will also include duties on the other farm enterprises when required.

The post holder will have the opportunity to have an influence on the future of the pig industry. Therefore, an aptitude to work with young people is vital as well as the ability to communicate effectively.

Bishop Burton College is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking manager for its 300 hectare mixed farm, which supports students to develop their higher level technical skills. The new post-holder will be well-supported and this opportunity would suit someone who wishes to fast-track their farm management career.

You will have excellent arable and livestock husbandry skills, together with a sound understanding of business management, farm records and accounts. This is an exciting opportunity to develop the use of the latest precision agriculture technologies which come with the college’s status as an Institute of Technology.

Working to sustainable farm management principles, you will deliver excellent arable and livestock performance comparable with commercial benchmarks. You will manage livestock systems which demonstrate the very best in animal welfare practices. You will maintain high standards of estate maintenance and have an eye for detail to manage what is effectively a showcase farm.

You will have excellent communication skills and the people skills necessary to effectively manage the farm staff team and to support student learning on the farm.
