Food Technology Teacher
Dumpton is a thriving, coeducational Prep School built on a simple but powerful belief: that every child has remarkable potential within them. Our role is to create an environment in which each individual has the very best opportunity to flourish. Our values — Be Kind and Aim High — are not slogans on a wall; they guide our decisions, shape our culture and define our expectations of one another.
Dumpton is seeking an outstanding candidate to take responsibility for the teaching of Food Technology. With a superb food technology kitchen, Dumpton has embedded Food Technology into the curriculum for all pupils in the school. As well as working closely with teaching staff to deliver opportunities linked to the curriculum and special occasions, weekly food technology lessons are timetabled for our Senior pupils in a carousel with Art and Design Technology. Food Technology also features in our after-school clubs’ provision.
The ideal candidate will hold a relevant teaching qualification alongside a qualification in Food Technology, Nutrition, or a related subject. You will have experience delivering engaging, practical-based lessons across Primary or Key Stage 3, with a strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and allergen management in an educational setting. Knowledge of COSHH and health & safety in a practical classroom is essential. The role requires confidence in managing a specialist classroom, including maintaining equipment and overseeing stock, as well as the ability to plan inclusive lessons tailored to a range of ages and abilities from early years to KS3. Strong teamwork skills and experience working collaboratively across departments are also key.
Early applications are very much encouraged. We will review and shortlist candidates on an ongoing basis and may close the vacancy once the right candidate has been identified. Candidates are therefore advised to submit their applications promptly to avoid disappointment.
Dumpton School is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion in all areas of our Community and encourages applications from all suitably qualified candidates.
Dumpton School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
All successful job applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening.
