Group Exercise / Aerobics Instructors (FTC - 6 months)

Overall Purpose

The purpose of an aerobics instructor is to lead and motivate individuals to improve their physical health and fitness through aerobic exercise. To plan, choreograph and teach group classes, as well as providing advice and support to members of their class. They must ensure safety at all times, and may also be responsible for setting up, maintaining and tidying the equipment and facilities used.

Duties

  • To plan and deliver a safe and effective group exercise classes.
  • Provide guidance to members on how to exercise correctly.
  • Demonstrate and motivate members.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants.
  • Organise equipment for fitness as required and ensure that equipment is maintained appropriately.
  • To report to the Sports Centre Manager

Knowledge / Experience

  • Recognised Level 2 Fitness Qualification  (E)
  • Exercise to Music  (E)
  • Additional fitness class qualifications  (D)
  • Experience of delivering group fitness classes  (E)
  • Experience of delivering a variety of classes  (E)
  • Good Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology  (E)
  • Good Knowledge of the class timetable and programming  (E)
  • To pre plan and motivate members through group exercise classes  (E)
  • To deliver a safe and effective class  (E)
  • Ensure member safety at all times.  (E)
