Salary: £22,796 per annum

General Assistant (Catering) - Full Year

Overall Purpose

The General Assistant will work as part of a team to ensure that all areas of the department are cleaned and maintained to a high standard under the guidance of the Shift Supervisor.  They are also required to assist with the service of food.

Duties

  • Hands on tidying and cleaning throughout the catering areas and assisting with service.
  • Positive and enthusiastic approach to working in a team demonstrating good behaviour and a flexible can do attitude.
  • Ability to receive and follow instruction and take on board feedback in a positive manner
  • Ability to be self-motivated and demonstrate use of initiative to engage in all task within the catering areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all catering areas under the supervision and guidance of the Shift Supervisor as required
  • To assist with the service of food and beverages as required.
  • To assist with the clearing of all tables and servery areas when required in a continuous manner.
  • Assist with the washing of all kitchen utensils and crockery when required in a continuous manner.
  • To assist in basic food preparation as directed.
  • Responsible for achieving all tasks on cleaning rotas and completing check lists
  • Assist with the replenishment of stock as directed by the Head Stores Person / Shift Supervisor/ Head Chef in order to keep service fluid at all times
  • Report any items of machinery malfunctioning or operating inconsistently to a senior team member
  • Report any spillages and assist with their cleaning as soon as practicable
  • Take responsibility for the safekeeping and use of cleaning chemicals and Personal protective equipment.
  • Attend all training courses as delivered by the Shift Supervisors or organised by the management team
  • To carry out one to one coaching of new staff
  • Be flexible in working environment as some shifts may require you to work outside of described hours and on site throughout the School grounds.
