Working Hours: Monday: 1:45pm - 3:15pm Tuesday: 8:30am - 10:00am Tuesday 1:45pm - 3:15pm Thursday: 8:30am - 10:00am Thursday: 1:15pm - 3.15pm Friday: 1:15 pm - 4:15pm

Commencement: as soon as possible

Salary: £21.00 - £23.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Pension Scheme: Eligible to join the Support Staff Scheme

Holiday: 20 days plus bank holidays (adjusted pro rata to reflect part time working), as this role is term time only holiday is paid within annual salary and is to be taken in Dumpton School holidays only

Swimming Coach

Overall Purpose

Deliver effective, high-quality swimming instruction and enriching swimming experiences to pupils across the full range of ages and abilities within the school. The main focus will be on Nursery through to Year 4, but there will be some support for our older swimmers too.

Duties

  • Act as an inspirational, enthusiastic and nurturing swimming coach, helping children of all ages and abilities enjoy swimming.
  • Provide appropriate swimming instruction for pupils within the school, particularly from Nursery through to Year 4, planning engaging and inclusive sessions that support progress for all children.
  • Assess pupils' progress on an ongoing basis, including contributing to an annual written report for parents in relevant year groups.

Other tasks:

  • Review and adhere to the Normal Operating Procedures and Emergency Action Plan for the swimming pool area.
  • Take responsibility for the use and upkeep of all equipment used in the swimming pool area.
  • Maintain Health and Safety requirements within the swimming pool area at all times.
  • Undertake manual handling and physical intervention training as required.
  • Provide emergency cover and administer first aid as and when required.

Knowledge / Experience 

  • ASA Coaching Certificate
  • Teachers' Rescue Award or RLSS Lifeguard Qualification
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Experience coaching children
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a real team player
  • Enthusiasm and a positive, can-do attitude

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience coaching swimming in a school setting
