Head of Digital

The Conservative Party is seeking a Head of Digital to lead our digital campaigning and communications strategy. This is a senior leadership role at the heart of the national campaign, shaping and executing high-impact digital activity across social media, web, video, email, and digital advertising to ensure our message reaches and resonates with voters across the UK.

About the Role
Reporting to the CEO and Director of Field Campaigns, you will manage a skilled in-house team and work closely with CCHQ Communications and campaign leads. Combining sharp political insight with hands-on digital expertise, you will deliver innovative, engaging content and drive digital mobilisation in a fast-paced political environment.

This role requires flexibility and availability outside traditional working hours, including evenings and weekends, to respond rapidly to breaking news and key campaign moments. You will be expected to be ‘on call’ during critical periods to ensure the Party’s message cuts through online.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Party’s digital strategy — setting direction for how we engage, persuade, and mobilise voters online.
  • Oversee digital campaigning across all platforms: social media, email, web, video, and paid digital advertising.
  • Drive creativity and innovation in online content, ensuring our digital presence is dynamic, authentic, and persuasive.
  • Manage the digital team at CCHQ — including social media, content, design, data, and advertising specialists.
  • Collaborate with CCHQ Communications to ensure message alignment and support drafting of impactful social media content.
  • Deliver digital mobilisation to recruit activists, increase membership, and boost grassroots campaigning activity.
  • Use data and analytics to target key audiences, optimise performance, and measure campaign effectiveness.
  • Lead rapid digital response during key campaign moments to ensure the Party’s message cuts through.
  • Work with regional campaign teams to support local digital activity and amplify our national message at constituency level.
  • Ensure compliance with electoral and data regulations, including GDPR.

Person Specification

  • Proven track record leading digital campaigns in politics, communications, or major public campaigns.
  • Expertise in digital content creation, social media management, and paid advertising.
  • Strong understanding of data-led campaigning and digital analytics.
  • Excellent political judgment and messaging instincts.
  • Leadership experience managing teams under pressure.
  • Energy, creativity, and commitment to Conservative values and campaign success.
  • Experience working in an election or political party environment.
  • Knowledge of digital tools such as NationBuilder, Campaign Manager, or similar CRM systems.
  • Familiarity with digital fundraising and supporter engagement techniques.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
