The Grounds Services team is responsible for managing and maintaining the forest landscape at each of our villages, including wildlife and biodiversity surveys. Our expert teams are extremely passionate about the natural environment at Center Parcs, which our guests love to see.

GROUNDS SERVICES ASSISTANT MANAGER | Circa £32,800 per annum

This is a varied and interesting position, perfect for someone with similar previous experience looking to further their career in Grounds maintenance.

In this role you will support the Ground Services Manager in ensuring the smooth running and control of the Ground Services department, with direct reference to operating standards, Company Landscape Strategy, Forest Management plans and the department Planned Maintenance Programme.

You will be responsible for supporting with the day to day running of the Grounds Department, managing and organising the team resources to implement and deliver all areas of the departmental responsibilities to the required standards, and adhering to Company, Legal and Health & Safety Regulations.

You will deputise for the Ground Services Manager during absence, including responsibility for meeting attendance, briefings, budget management and day to day running of the Grounds team. You will support with facilitating and developing a culture that promotes and encourages the general wellbeing, motivation, and morale of your team, whilst ensuring effective performance management strategies are in place and your team are actively contributing towards this.

Other areas of responsibility will include supporting with planning and implementing the external and internal landscape management plan, this includes the following: Biodiversity & Ecology, Forest Management, Grass & Scrub Management, Lakes & Waterways Management, Roads & Footpaths, Internal Landscaping, Fencing & Timber Structures, Play Areas, Waste Management, Pest Control, Planon & Reactive Works and General Landscaping.

HOURS OF WORK

You will be contracted to work 160 hours per 4-week period on a flexible basis. This means that your days and hours of work could vary each week, but you will always receive at least your contracted hours each period.

As our village is open 365 days of the year, your working hours will include public / bank holidays and during Christmas and / or New Year on a rota basis.

ABOUT YOU

Essential requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Horticulture / Estate Management / Conservation or a qualification specific to a landscape discipline e.g. Forest Management and / or Countryside Management or equivalent experience / prepared to undertake training
  • Ability to support and develop a team
  • Organisational and planning skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Supervisory experience
  • A motivational approach towards colleagues and work
  • Full driving licence, held for a minimum of 6 months

Desirable requirements:

  • Responsibility in a grounds / landscape role
  • IOSH – Managing Safely
  • Previous experience of managing budgets / financial awareness
