Derby College Group (DCG) are recruiting a Student Engagement Mentor to join our new Routes Provision, based at our Roundhouse Campus. The Routes academy is a new provision for 16–18-year-olds who enrol at college with low level English and maths grades which do not meet the entry requirements for vocational level one programmes or have social, emotional challenges / barriers to learning. The intent is to improve students’ maths and English grades as well as develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours to support them into vocational study programmes.

 

The Opportunity

Within this role you’ll provide support and guidance to young people who are experiencing difficulties in learning due to social, emotional and/or behavioral support needs.  You’ll help students overcome social, emotional and / or behavioral support needs which are hindering learning and progress.

About you

You’ll be highly capable of communication effectively with a wide range of people and have excellent interpersonal skills.  Accuracy and attention to detail are essential to be successful within this role, along with competency when using IT systems. If you have a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in coaching and/or mentoring then that’s great, but if not, we will support you to gain this qualification!
