Derby College Group (DCG) are seeking an exceptional Assistant Principal to lead our Preparation for Life and Work provision, which encompasses Foundation Learning Programmes and our discrete SEND provision. This role is based at our iconic Roundhouse campus with travel to our other amazing campuses when necessary. In this pivotal role, you will play a key part in shaping high-quality, personalised learning experiences for students with a wide range of needs. Your leadership will ensure that every learner receives the tailored support necessary to build the skills, confidence, and independence required to thrive both now and in the future. You will lead and inspire a dedicated team responsible for delivering a broad spectrum of programmes focused on employability, life skills, and progression pathways. These programmes will be grounded in a strong ethos of inclusion, ambition, and compassionate support, helping each student realise their full potential and move confidently toward their individual goals.

About You

You will bring a proven track record of leadership, demonstrating the ability to innovate, inspire, and consistently achieve excellent outcomes for students with additional needs and/or barriers to learning. Your expertise and dedication will be central to advancing our mission of transforming lives and communities through the power of education.

This pivotal role requires:

  • Proven experience in managing or delivering education within Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) or alternative provision settings.
  • Expertise in SEND education, with a deep understanding of inclusive practices and tailored learning pathways.
  • A commitment to re-engaging vulnerable students, fostering resilience, and preparing them for meaningful futures in further education, employment, or training.
