Derby College Group (DCG) is seeking a dedicated Teacher of Animal Management (Zoo and Wildlife – Higher Education) to join our team at the picturesque Broomfield Hall campus. In this role, you will contribute to programme planning and leadership for our Zoo and Wildlife degree courses, delivering and managing modules from Level 4 to Level 6, including supervising student dissertations.

The Opportunity

You’ll deliver engaging, high-quality teaching across the theoretical aspects of the programme, enhanced through practical application using our on-site Animal Unit, guest speakers, and external visits. Our aim is to inspire and support students to achieve their full potential, preparing them for progression into higher-level study, apprenticeships, or rewarding careers within the zoo, wildlife, conservation, and wider animal management sectors.

About You

You are a highly organised and personable individual with excellent interpersonal and time management skills, and strong IT proficiency including MS Office and statistical software like SPSS. You hold a degree in Animal Management, Zoo or Wildlife, or a related subject, are qualified to teach and ideally have experience of teaching in a Higher Education setting. Adaptable and flexible, you can deliver across a range of Animal Management modules and support students with dissertations and reports. Ideally, you will also bring industry insight, curriculum awareness, and a passion for conservation and continuous professional development.
