Derby College Group (DCG) are seeking a proactive and considered individual to join our great Safeguarding team as a Safeguarding Advisor at our amazing Broomfield Hall Campus.

 

The Opportunity

This role offers a meaningful opportunity to make a direct and lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable students by safeguarding those at risk of harm in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. The position enables the postholder to take a proactive lead in identifying concerns, implementing positive and timely interventions, and coordinating effective support. By liaising closely with external agencies and internal teams, the role plays a pivotal part in ensuring students’ safety, well-being, and access to learning. It is an opportunity to work at the heart of safeguarding practice, helping students overcome barriers, achieve their potential, and build a secure foundation for future success.

About you

You are an organised and compassionate professional with strong communication skills, able to engage effectively with students, colleagues, and external partners at all levels. You work confidently both independently and as part of a team, managing records accurately and maintaining a high level of organisation in a busy environment. With experience supporting vulnerable young people and a sound understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures, you are committed to promoting student safety, well-being, and inclusion. You bring a student-focused approach, gained through experience in service-oriented environments, and demonstrate empathy and cultural awareness when working with students from diverse social, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. You have experience of teamwork and an understanding of the further education sector, alongside the required qualifications in mental health support, or a clear commitment to working towards them. Driven by continuous professional development, you are motivated to make a positive difference in the lives of young people and support them to succeed.
