Role: Data Science Manager – Machine Learning & AI Projects
Location: Based in Alcester, this hybrid role is 1-2 days per week in the office
Salary and benefits: £75,000-£85,000, depending on experience, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and more
Helping Hands is on a mission to deliver exceptional care services at home—and data is at the heart of that transformation. We’re looking for a Data Science Manager to lead our Data Science pillar and drive high-impact machine learning and AI initiatives across the organisation.

What you’ll do
- Lead end-to-end ML/AI projects: From scoping and experimentation to deployment and monitoring.
- Translate complex business problems into data science opportunities with measurable outcomes.
- Build models using Python, SQL, and Snowflake, leveraging tools like scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow.
- Collaborate with analytics engineers to ensure scalable, production-ready solutions.
- Develop and communicate a data science roadmap aligned with strategic priorities.
- Mentor and coach data scientists, analysts, and engineers in best practices and experimentation.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience in scoping, defining, and deploying machine learning projects with measurable business impact.
- Strong technical expertise in Python, SQL, and cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake).
- A collaborative working style—you thrive in cross-functional teams and build strong relationships.
- Strong communication skills—you can translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights.
- Experience mentoring others and establishing data science standards and best practices.
Desirable but not essential
- Experience in healthcare, social care, or operational domains.
- Familiarity with dbt, GitHub, and modern deployment workflows.
- Advocating for responsible AI and ethical data practices.
Who you’ll work with
You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across Finance, Marketing, Compliance, Operations, and Tech, as well as external partners like Livingbridge and Zenzero. You’ll report into the Head of Data & Insight and manage a Senior Data Scientist, while mentoring across the wider BI team.
