Role Purpose
We are seeking a skilled and proactive lawyer to manage a varied caseload of residential and commercial property disputes. You will be working as part of the Property Litigation Team, which sits within the firm’s Dispute Resolution department. The role requires a strong understanding of landlord and tenant law, residential boundary disputes, excellent case management skills, and a collaborative approach to client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage live lease renewal cases, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Advise clients on all aspects of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954.
- Provide guidance on tenancy at will and periodic tenancies.
- Prepare and serve break notices and advise on pre-conditions.
- Advise on interim repairs notices and dilapidations.
- Manage forfeiture proceedings where necessary.
- Advise on rights of way, position of legal boundaries and restrictive covenants
- Experience of mediation and without prejudice meetings
- Represent clients in telephone hearings and other dispute resolution forums.
- Participating in business development initiatives.
- Establishing strong client relationships
Person Specification
- Confident in handling contentious matters and dealing with individual and commercial clients
- Ability to think strategically when giving advice
- Excellent organisational and diary management abilities.
- Commercially aware with a proactive approach to business development
- Desire to build their own client base.
- Strong communication skills and a client-focused mindset.
Technical Knowledge
- Broad knowledge of all aspects of residential and commercial property law
- Experience of all forms of ADR
- Strong working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and the litigation process
