About the role:

Network Rail Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong background in rail infrastructure projects to join our Brisbane team as an Associate Director – Project & Program Management.

This role will take a lead, client‑facing position in the delivery of rail projects across Queensland, acting as a key point of contact for clients and senior stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered in line with client expectations, contractual requirements, and NRC’s project management methodology. Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will provide strategic direction to coordinate the QLD team and drive high‑quality, predictable project outcomes.

What you will be involved in:

  • Co-ordinates the QLD project team and works to provide strategic leadership and guidance as part of the QLD leadership team;
  • Lead project management functions for allocated projects, ensuring delivery meets project objectives and client requirements;
  • Define project scope and technical requirements in collaboration with subject matter experts (SME);
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and reporting in line with project standards;
  • Apply robust project management practices to deliver outputs on time, within scope, and to quality standards;
  • Identify and manage scope changes, addressing variations with clients effectively;
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and NRC governance requirements;
  • Coordinate interfaces with other disciplines and related projects for seamless integration;
  • Provide input into cost estimates, risk assessments, and opportunity identification;
  • Champion safety management and best-practice procedures throughout delivery; and
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and maintain alignment on priorities and timelines.

Experience & Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Significant project management experience on rail infrastructure projects, with a strong track record delivering small to medium‑sized projects and managing risk across projects and programs;
  • Strong understanding of the project lifecycle, core project management principles, and practical application of risk management tools;
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders effectively, including complex interfaces and competing priorities;
  • Ability to produce clear, concise reports and summarise complex issues effectively;
  • Familiarity with governance, compliance, and internal reporting requirements;
  • Strong problem‑solving capability with the ability to prioritise and perform under pressure;
  • Proactive, flexible approach to driving successful project outcomes; and
  • Proven ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders and collaborate closely with SMEs on technical detail.

Desirable:

  • Proven experience in delivering change and compliance projects;
  • Formal qualifications in risk management and/or project management;
  • Proficiency in project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project; and
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a relevant discipline.
