The Opportunity with NRC

We are looking for a Project Coordinator to join our team in Washington DC. The successful candidate will provide support to our clients with the development of complex, transformational railroad projects.

Acting as a key member of the team, you will establish and manage internal and external interface processes. This includes identifying relevant stakeholders, establishing clear and systematic lines of communication, tracking the flow of documentation, and proactively applying creative problem-solving approaches to move the project forward.

You will provide project management support to Wayside Planning and Maintenance Improvement modernization project managers in the development and implementation of various Rail Modernization Projects.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintaining and monitoring project resource plans, project schedules, work hours, budget, forecasting, and expenditure.
  • Managing and reporting on project performance to determine established data quality and reliability.
  • Providing support to project managers in timely coordination with project stakeholders.
  • Identifying, researching, and proposing solutions to business process and project implementation challenges.
  • Supporting PM in developing cost benefit analysis for new projects, developing analysis for cost and schedule impact of potential project changes/change orders.
  • Analyzing data available to create management reports for effective planning and decision making.
  • Managing and setting up project SharePoint sites and libraries and access controls for relevant staff members.
  • Providing document control across the program and coordinating the adequate storage of evidence and reporting related to the assessment activities.

Job Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience within project or program management experience, including managing multiple projects of $100K or greater contract value
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, Business Management or equivalent
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel user, e.g., competent in the use of formulas and functions.
  • Experience with rail construction or maintenance is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong time management and organisation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work across a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with suppliers, contractors, stakeholder’s client representatives, as required) and establish relationships at all levels.
  • A relevant qualification such as PRINCE2 or PMP is desirable
