About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Readiness Lead with demonstrated expertise in European Train Control Systems (ETCS) to join our growing Sydney team, supporting the transformative Digital Systems Program (DSP) with Transport for NSW (TfNSW).

In this senior role, you will lead the maintenance readiness function for the System Integrator, ensuring the development, delivery and acceptance of maintenance solutions required for the successful rollout of Digital Systems. You will apply your technical and operational experience in a consultancy environment, leading and influencing both internal teams and a diverse range of client stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

  • Partner with TfNSW and Sydney Trains directorates to shape the Maintenance Readiness Strategy, tools, and methodologies.
  • Lead the creation of Directorate Maintenance Readiness Lists through workshops, interviews, and knowledge gained from similar operational transitions.
  • Develop early-stage risk assessments to identify maintenance impacts arising from process changes.
  • Monitor and challenge progress from the System Integrator to ensure maintenance readiness assumptions are sound and evidence based.
  • Support schedule audits at initiative and program level, ensuring maintenance activities are clearly represented and tracked.
  • Work closely with the Digital Systems Technical Team to help achieve functional outcomes and meet program milestones.
  • Provide authoritative advice on technical requirements, compliance obligations, and their impact on maintenance capabilities.
  • Contribute expert input to maintenance specifications and procedures to ensure safety, legislative, and procedural compliance.

About You

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Significant rail industry experience, including leading and implementing major changes to maintenance practices.
  • Proven experience in digital signalling projects (ETCS).
  • Demonstrated capability in managing maintenance processes across the full program lifecycle.
  • Strong experience preparing maintenance reporting within complex, multidisciplinary programs.
  • Skilled in compiling evidence files and producing stage-gate documentation.
  • Excellent stakeholder and interface management, with the ability to build productive relationships across diverse client groups.
  • Strong understanding of standards, governance, finance, risk, safety, and assurance requirements.
  • High proficiency in MS Office and strong attention to detail in documentation and written communication.

Desirable

  • Prior experience delivering change, compliance and/or complex projects.
  • Formal risk and/or project management qualifications.
  • Ability to integrate multiple data sources into a single, coherent log for upward reporting.
  • Knowledge or experience of working within the Australian rail industry
