Peer Community Connections Volunteer - WELL Aberdeenshire (South/Central)

Location: South & Central Aberdeenshire

Volunteer

If you’re looking for a rewarding experience and to be part of an inspirational team that really does make a difference, this is your opportunity to volunteer within our WELL Aberdeenshire Service.

We are looking to expand our team with a network of peer volunteers who add value to the work that we do.  Your unique knowledge and understanding gained from managing your own mental health challenges will be called upon; we recognise and value how transferable and insightful learning from previous life experiences can be.   With passion, and compassion, you will bring authenticity and positivity to finding ways to empower people.

At WELL Aberdeenshire we work with people aged between 16-65 to explore the things that matter to them and look at opportunities to improve their mental health and wellbeing. Our aim is to support people to feel well, empowered, and linked locally.

We want to support people to live a life that is meaningful for them and to feel part of their community.  We know that sometimes this can feel really daunting on your own.  As a Community Connector, you will support people to take their first steps in exploring a new hobby or activity.  With a positive attitude and ability to relate to people, you will offer reassurance and encouragement for people to overcome their barriers.  From arts and crafts to hill walking, or swimming to using public transport, you will be there to offer hope for people to broaden their opportunities.

As a mental health charity, we really value team wellbeing; that’s why we want you to know you’ll be joining a friendly team.  You don’t need to have any previous experience to be a Volunteer, just a passion for engaging with people.  If you are energetic, compassionate and value new experiences, then this is an ideal opportunity to support our Practitioners with opening new doors for the people we support.

Volunteering with Penumbra, we can promise you’ll be inspired by some pretty amazing humans every single day. We want you to grow and thrive! We will support you on your own individual volunteering path, helping you to gain experience and develop new skills.
