What is the role?

We are recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join our busy Accounts team. The role will be responsible for our Purchase Ledger function, reporting into the Finance Manager.

The role will include:

  • Working as part of a team of two on the Purchase ledger function for the South Coast region
  • Process a high volume of supplier invoices, including matching to orders and delivery notes
  • Carry out regular supplier statement reconciliations
  • Run payment runs on a monthly basis, ensuring all supplier invoices are uploaded
  • Policing correct ledger coding and department approvals
  • Advising on and checking correct VAT & IR35 treatment for invoices & new suppliers
  • Dealing with supplier queries over the phone and via email
  • Any other accounting duties reasonably required by the Finance Manager

What we need from you?

  • Experience in a purchase ledger role in a busy accounts department is essential
  • Previous experience in the construction industry and dealing with subcontractors would be an advantage but not essential
  • Must be organised, diligent, have a good eye for detail and able to work under pressure
  • Team player with good people skills
  • Ability to challenge internal business partners (on site and in office) and suppliers where appropriate
  • Experience of using Microsoft applications especially outlook & excel
