What is the role?
This is an exciting opportunity to join Persimmon as a Group Accountant. You will provide an effective financial support function to the Executive Board and their decision making and evaluation process, whilst ensuring all Group internal and external reporting responsibilities are achieved.
What you’ll do as a Group Accountant
- Ownership of reviewing weekly and monthly KPIs used by senior management and the executive board
- Take the lead in the preparation of group consolidated management accounts, forecast models and budgets.
- Ensure controls are performed in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Play a key role in the year-end and half-year reporting processes
- Support the preparation and delivery of the Group’s statutory accounts and external reporting outputs
- Work alongside the Senior Group Accountant to fulfil the Group’s external reporting requirements
- Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, ensuring efficient delivery of audit requirements
- Provide insightful financial analysis and challenge to support strategic decision-making
- Drive improvements in reporting processes, controls and team performance
- Act as a mentor to junior team members enabling them to become qualified accountants
What experience do I need?
- Have a recognised accountancy qualification (preferably ACA)
- 4 years’ experience in finance (industry or practice)
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (both IFRS and UK GAAP) with an emphasis on consolidation accounting
- Strong communication skills (liaising with senior leadership is a regular part of the role)
- Computer literate, strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills essential
- An ability to meet tight deadlines and manage conflicting priorities from a range of stakeholders
Desirable skills and experience include:
- Experience in the housebuilding or construction industry
- Use of the COINS operating system
- Experience improving finance processes or systems
