What is the role?

We are recruiting for an experienced Engineer to work in our Technical Department. As an Engineering Project Manager, you will be an integral part of the Technical team overseeing external Design and Engineering Consultants involved in the project management and administration of all aspects of the technical and design matters for various residential projects.

The role of an Engineering Project Manager is to support a number of housing developments through the delivery of value engineered solutions. The successful candidate must be adaptable, have a strong and consistent management approach to managing external consultants.

The role will include:

  • Support in the production of site layouts and technical reports for Land Appraisals; and required working drawings
  • Provide support to Land & Planning department in Outline and Reserved Matters planning applications
  • Fee negotiation and appointment of consultants
  • Brief and commission consultants to carry out site investigations, topographical surveys and other assessment reports on land acquired
  • Briefing of engineering consultants on scope of design, which includes roads, sewers private drainage, retaining walls, foundation designs any other substructures below DPC level either private or adopted
  • Initial negotiations/enquiries with statutory bodies and utility undertakers on environmental, drainage, highways and other engineering issues when appraising land
  • Issuing of high-quality engineering drawing packages to Commercial, Construction and Sales departments
  • Supporting Commercial, Construction and Sales department in answering Technical queries
  • Comply with responsibilities as laid down in the Group’s Health, Safety and Environment Policy

What we need from you?

  • Ideally qualified to Degree level or equivalent in a civil engineering or similar discipline with some residential project experience
  • By way of technical experience, you will be conversant with current building regulations and CDM you will also have a thorough knowledge of current Environmental Agency, Water Authority, Highway regulations and adoption agreements
  • Good knowledge of AutoCAD and be able to communicate effectively with both internal departments and external bodies
  • You must be an enthusiastic and hardworking individual who is willing to undertake all necessary training
