What is the role?
This is an exciting opportunity to join a buys and friendly Planning Team. This role reports to the Planning Director and will have daily contact with internal technical colleagues, consultants, local planning authorities, stakeholders and local communities.
The purpose of the role is to carry out planning and development appraisals, prepare and submit planning and other related applications within the residential sector for both immediate and strategic sites.
What you’ll do as a Planner
- Producing site assessments, detailed examination of planning histories, policy analysis, interpretation and consideration of material considerations, and new site appraisals for immediate and strategic sites in a timely manner.
- Prepare and project manage different types of planning applications from Outline/Full and Reserved Matters to the discharge of planning conditions accurately so that the Region can continue to deliver new homes across Cumbria and Lancashire.
- Liaise and brief layout designers, internal and externals colleagues and consultants and officers at local planning authorities prior, during and post submission in order to develop strong working relationships
- Prepare, coordinate and review Planning Statements, Design & Access Statements and a range of other planning documents required to support applications accurately and on time so the business can continue to achieve the necessary planning approvals
- Organise supporting information and attend required stakeholder/public consultation events with professionalism at all times to build confidence with the general public
- Formulating planning strategies to promote medium and long term development sites through the plan-making process under the guidance of the senior colleagues to continue a pipeline of new sites for the region
- Monitor development plan progress and associated evidence based and policy documents within each local planning authority area
What experience do I need?
- Previous experience working in the private or public sector in the field of development management / planning policy
- Degree / Masters Planning Degree with an RTPI accreditation and a rounded knowledge of town planning
- Ability to adapt to change and to work accurately and efficiently under pressure
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
